Risk Assessments designed to cover the Groups Project Work

The group are insured by BTCV (we have a link to their site if you would like to know more).

They have helped us understand our repsonsibilities in this challenging area. We obviously seek to protect ourselves and all who partner and work with us. In addition we are sensitive to the fact that many locations we work on are also open to Public access.

The Group remains committed to responsibly analysing the risks of all activities we organise and seeks to ensure Counter measures are in place to reduce the likelihood of those risks occuring.

The group operates a 3 tier structure to ensuring all our team & partners are well briefed.

Level 1 - Generic risk assessments - Sites and activities.

You may review all of these on this site.

They seek to evaluate each location where we operate around the Village and each activity that we carry out.

The document set comprises :

SRA = Site risk assessment - 1 per location
ARA = Activity risk assessment - 1 per activity or combination of similar activities and
WRA = Weather risk assessment.

The combination of these documents is the START point for our teams in the process of evaluating risk and the required Counter Measures to remove or minimise it.

Other supporting material briefed to our members is also available from the links below.

Level 2 - Working party risk assessments - Sites and activities.

These are essentially the same documents but with sections removed to allow our Working Party Risk assessors to confirm and ADJUST the base point provided by the generic assessments.

The Working Party Risk assessor will select from the generic documents the set appropriate to the planned activities & locations. On the day of the activity the final assessment & counter measures will be confirmed.

For example - Weather is different on every outing and impacts each Site & Activity uniquely. Recent events (2006) such as Bird Flu saw us increasing our normal Counter Measures. It is always necessary to review general plans and adjust them for the specifics of the day.

Level 3 - Archived risk assessments - Sites and activities.

Since starting this process we have electronically archived the completed set of forms for all of our Working parties.

This 3 tiered approach, augmented by the supporting documents provided to all members and associates of the group, provide a strong culture of responsible risk management.
